Bringing sexy back: Rediscover the bedroom for you and your partner

Bringing sexy back: Rediscover the bedroom for you and your partner

Are you looking to give your bedroom a lift? Has it been too long since you added a dash of colour to your sleeping space? Then why not clear out the cobwebs and spruce up your bedroom with some new bedding?

Add a touch of glitz and glamour to your bedroom and you can transform the whole atmosphere of the room, from cluttered dormitory to sensual boudoir. That’s the beauty of the bedroom - some simple and affordable bedding can really transform the whole feel of a room.

In a double bedroom the focal point is almost certainly going to be the bed. It is going to be the largest piece of furniture in the room and the one that carries the most impact. That means that with a simple change of the bedclothes you can have a dramatic effect on the way the room looks. With a new colour scheme on the bed and some matching drapes and throw pillows, you can transform even the drabbest bedroom into a slumber chamber fit for a king or queen.

Go for deep and exotic colours, like lush reds or purples. The material can also make a big difference. Splash out on soft Egyptian cotton or luxurious silk for an elegant and comfortable sleeping experience. Silk feels so soft against your skin; it’s tempting to just wrap yourself up in it and stay there. Isn’t that what a great bed should feel like?

Bedding is affordable most of the time but keep your eyes peeled for a bedding sale at Sainsbury’s and you could pick up an even better bargain for your bedroom. The bedroom doesn’t have to just be functional; it should also be a fun and sensual place to be. It’s not just a place for coming in and collapsing in a heap, it should be about stimulating the senses and creating a warm, soft and romantic atmosphere for you and your partner.

This is a guest post from Sainsbury’s. There is a wide range of bedding available at Sainsbury’s. Not everyone likes the same things or has the same taste, so they’ve created a great range to suit all needs. They also have plenty of different sizes to fit all beds in the house.

Top ten tips for internet safety with young children

Top ten tips for internet safety with young children

One of my biggest fears for my children growing up is their access to the internet and what lurks out there. I was listening to a radio news article and this particular news piece focused on some shocking new trends. The title was Rise in reports of children sexually abusing children, upon hearing the headline I was firstly shocked but secondly worried that my children are growing up in this world. Listening to the article it has been suggested that one reason for this rise is the shocking ease of which young children have access to pornography and shocking pornography. As if this wasn't bad enough children usually have access to two or three devices capable of showing these websites.

My knee jerk reaction was 'well the bloody parents should be more pro active in monitoring this activity'. I'm sure that in some cases the parents just are not doing a good enough job but in other cases this just isn't so. I guess for some people the internet is something for the youth, something technical, something scary.

I have put together my top ten tips for internet safety with young children

(This is aimed at children aged years 8-13)

1 Parental Controls basic but effective don't worry if you do not know how to do this a quick Google search should have your PC on a pornography lock down.

2 PC usage rules it would be a good idea to establish a some guidelines for use of the computer. This could include specific times that you allow access, time limits, whether it is monitored use etc. You take control and say this is our PC, use it by all means but play by our rules.

3 Invest in a family tablet this will allow your child to have access to a device that allows internet browsing but also allows you to monitor from a distance. This is good for the trust bond you will en-devour to establish to bring your child up internet savvy.

4 Avoid smart phones for young child as it is totally unnecessary for somebody so young to have something so connected to the internet.

5 Familiarise yourself with your children's favorite websites, recognise your childs normal behavior whilst on the sites. Armed with this knowledge, then if something is wrong, you will be in a better position to notice.

6 Social Networks, depending on the child's age allow access but make it a rule from day one that access to this luxury is monitored. Make a rule that permission is required to go on the networks and when they are on, keep a regular eye on what page is open i.e if it is chat then ask who's that ?

7 Talk about the internet and inform your youngster that sometimes things on the internet are not for children. The intention would be to grow a healthy respect for the internet not petrify them so go for a softly softly approach.

8 Learn with your child sit down with them and use the internet together. This will encourage them to use it properly and not stray on the the wrong websites and report things that might not be appropriate.

9 E-mail accounts its not uncommon for people to have lots of different accounts be aware what accounts are being used. This is where internet history on the family tablet comes in handy and knowing your child's favorite websites. Example; you know your child has an email account with Google however on the history you see Yahoo mail used a lot. This would indicate that other email accounts could be being used.

10 Have fun on the internet and don't just settle for the answer 'I'm just doing homework' make sure you find out for yourself whats happening. Your child may not be the one doing anything wrong but you just do not know who is sat at the other end of the key board.

This has been my top ten tips for internet safety with young children I hoped you have enjoyed reading.

We have Teeth !

Olivia May Gibson has a tooth

News broke at around 12 noon that she has finally pushed through her first tooth. It is one of the front teeth and at the moment its only a very tiny spec. No photos yet but as soon as there is we will bring you an update. In other news Olivia had her first attempt at baby led weaning, we wanted to see how she got on and she seemed to like messing with her food. Not much went in but i felt it was a perfect time to start her on a few bits.

I have taken a few snaps of her trying her food, we started her on mushed baked beans, potato and broccoli.

So there we have it she has begun on her food journey although the picture of her, bottom middle shows a less than impressed reaction :-)

Nursery Woe's !

This post has really held me back, let me explain. I have been slowly making my way back in to the world of blogging and I have promised you three posts an Olivia, Harry and Charlie post. I have delivered the Olivia and Harry posts however the Charlie post has eluded me. The reason for this is because there is so much to say so I guess I have been putting it off. It has prevented me bringing you posts about other subjects so for that I'm sorry, I hope to make up for it now. So to relieve me of this blight I will bring you the Charlie update.

Happy, Sad, Frustrated and every emotion in between is probably the best way to describe this past month or two with Charlie. The major change which has been responsible for this emotional roller-coaster has been the introduction of Nursery. He had his first day just over a month ago and he seemed to take to it like a duck to water literally running in to nursery. However that only lasted for about a week and a half, then he began to not want to go.

I guess the honeymoon period was over and now settled in to the routine he began to miss home and mummy. His reaction was extreme, so bad that for that for the past few weeks Katy's mum has had to come around to help with the Harry and Olivia. Upon waking up on the day of nursery he would constantly say he didn't want to go and burst out crying. Then when his shoes had to go on he became inconsolable and would fight, kick and scream.

Katy was very lucky, by chance one of her friends just happened to be visiting on the first day Charlie had his bad reaction to going to nursery. She simply couldn't have coped on her own and I wouldn't have been able to get home in time to help. Once out the door he had to be carried all the way, lucky it is literally only a one minute walk. We called the nursery every day for the first week to check that he was fine, they said every time that he wasn't crying anymore and just keep on asking that mummy was coming back. This reaction was consistent for approximately two weeks and we had seriously wondered if something was slightly not right with out precious little boy.

I'm glad to report that this past week he has shown some signs that he is actually beginning to like going. It has been so so difficult sending him in to nursery, especially when he is grabbing hold of your leg at the door of nursery screaming and crying that he didn't want to go. Katy has had a nightmarish task on her hands to get him to go and it hasn't been easy on her so for that I'm extremely grateful. As mentioned he is much more positive now about going and is actually telling people that he goes and that its good. We had a real breakthrough on Friday and he walked all the way to nursery with no tears. He showed a little bit of resistance at the door but seemed so much happier to actually go in. On that day he came home singing wind the bobbing up so I feel we have really turned the corner.

So that's Charlie for you, now I can bring you all manor of posts the sky is the limit !

Lets Talk Harry !

I have been holding on to bring you this post because it was someones second birthday on Tuesday, so I thought I'd bring you one big post today. Firstly, let me bring you in the loop with Harry. Its has been a big month for Harry as he has had a lot of new things to adjust to. The one major thing has been his big brother going to nursery this has been the first serious upheaval to his little routine. I have to say he has handled it well he doesn't seem to be to worried about Charlie going. Maybe it has been masked by Charlies reaction to going, but I'll save telling you about that for another post I will just say it has not been good.

Harry has really begun to grow up which is great except, the expected terrible two tantrums are now all too common. His vocabulary is improving on an almost daily basis and one of his favorite new words is Spider-man
This is obviously really cute to see him say and the way he pronounces it spi-der-man makes me smile every time ! We are having a few little niggly issues with him at bed time like he will take along time to settle and will be up at 6 every morning but nothing as major as before. We can firmly say he is rapidly growing up and catching Charlie up fast.

His Birthday was on Tuesday and we decided to go to Crealy which was a lot of fun we spent Charlies birthday there. As usual I followed my useful guide to saving money at Adventure parks. We were slightly disappointed because we had hoped that he had grown enough to go on the bigger rides but he still needs a few cm's yet.

We started the day with presents and his main present was massive a giant little tikes slide . He loved it but needless to say it couldn't stay inside for too long, it wasn't just slightly obscuring the TV it was a total eclipse.

He also got some Duplo which he is potty over and loves to make towers, trains you name it he makes it. He also go his first motorbike a wooden on minus the engine its called a Kwaka it was his present from Nanny and Grandad. The balance bike is just too big for him at the moment so Charlie is looking after it for him poor boy. However he is letting harry have a go on his nee nah bike. Overall he had a lovely birthday and is very chuffed with all his toys.

Olivia

Well hasn't she grown ! Now a proper little girl she is full of life and seems to find ecstatic euphoria in just about everything. How mush does she weigh ? God knows! We have not been to the scale in months, to be honest I cant see the point only an idiot would fail to realise that she is fighting fit. She is a good healthy weight not to fat not to slim tall and full of beans.

Her latest thing is the arrival of her high chair, I'm told to tell you that its purple and it goes with the kitchen appliances he he !

When she sat in it for the first time she couldn't have looked more chuffed with herself !

Look at her little smile so happy to be at the level of the boys, a princess sat on her throne! We have noticed a real difference in her since I last posted months ago, she is flourishing in to our beautiful little girl. She is by far the most precious little thing in the world and loves her Daddy far to much. When I walk in to the room and speak her face lights up and it is so nice to see, makes me feel very lucky that I get to come home to her.

That's that then Olivia down and the boys to come.

The Come back post

For those of you who are on the ball you will have noticed that I have been missing. If I'm honest I found blogging was getting on top of me and it became a chore. I was struggling to get one decent post out a week.

My plan to get me back in to the swing of things?

I will do three separate posts one to bring you up to speed with Olivia, then one to bring you up to date with Harry, and the last to cover Charlie.

So much has changed in such a short time, I really needed this break to compose myself and see what I wanted to get from blogging. I'm excited to make more friends so please do not be shy, introduce yourself I'd love to read your blogs so leave your address.

Other things I'm very excited about which I want to bring you over the next few month;

I'm very keen to start making some wooden plaques, I'm currently bidding on a scroll saw which will allow me to cut complex shapes. I intend to make children's name plaques for bedroom doors, decorations for mantle pieces and other message plaques all with the a great designs.

You'll be introduced to my other baby, my garden, I'm no Alan Titchmarsh but I love to do a spot of green fingered frolicking about.

Of course there will be just about anything and everything in between, but it will focus around what we as a family are doing.

See you tomorrow for Olivia Update.
